The backstory
When Wen and Kathleen came to The Groove Room SF, they were excited to start their wedding dance but had two big challenges: they weren’t sure about their song choice yet, and the wedding was quickly approaching! On top of that, there was the added complexity that Kathleen was based in the Bay Area, while Wen was living in Los Angeles at the time.
Scheduling challenges
In total, Wen and Kathleen took five lessons with us to prepare for their wedding. With Wen living in LA, we worked around his visits to the Bay Area to make the most of the time they had together. The real adventure began when their teacher was traveling to LA for a dance convention on Labor Day weekend, and Kathleen happened to be visiting Wen in LA at the same time!
In true Groove Room style, we made the most of this opportunity by arranging for all three to meet at a studio in LA. The trio had an amazing time. Our teacher tells us that Wen and Kathleen even bought coffee for the early morning class to make it extra special. It was a true example of flexibility and teamwork, and we couldn’t have been more thrilled to be part of their journey.
A commitment to flexibility
We know that life doesn’t always follow a perfect schedule, and at The Groove Room, we make it a priority to be flexible for our couples. Wen and Kathleen’s situation is a perfect example of this flexibility. Despite the distance and time constraints, they were able to create a beautiful and meaningful first dance.
